Hi, I am a Singapore certified teacher, with over 10 years of tutoring and formal classroom teaching experience. I am fluent in English and Mandarin. I have prepared and conducted Mathematics, General Science, Chemistry and Physics lessons for students of ages 9 to 18 in preparation for Primary School Leaving Examination, Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-level Examination and Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-level Examination (middle school, high school and college entrance exam respectively). I want to be a tutor here to continue my strong passion in teaching and guiding students to achieve their academic goals, crave out their path of success and be a confident life-long learner. For the students to improve their grades effectively, I vary teaching approach to suit students’ learning style, ensuring conceptual understanding and strengthening their problem solving and critical thinking skills. Strong conceptual understanding allow the students to internalise the learning and commit it to their memory easily. I am capable of providing meaningful learning experience, effective learning guidance and scaffolding for students, enabling them to build on their prior knowledge and develop cognitively. I closely monitor and assess students’ learning and performance consistently. Students are provided ample practice with timely feedback, identifying their areas for improvements. As efficient learning takes place when one is interested in the subject matter and takes ownership of their own learning, I engage students through various teaching pedagogies such as the concrete-pictorial-abstract approach, guided-discovery approach, and tools such as manipulatives, videos, simulations and games. To make learning relevant to them, students get to understand the real-world applications of the concepts. To maximise learning opportunities, I encourage students to have an inquisitive mind, ask questions, explore alternative solutions and not to be afraid of making mistakes. I aim to provide a positive student-centered learning environment and motivate students in maintaining their positive learning attitude and working towards their targets. I look forward to making learning enjoyable for the students in need, as well as those who are interested in Singapore Mathematics and Physics education.
